How It Works
A Home Away From Home, For the Smallest City Dogs
The Basics
The Little Dog Retreat accommodates a maximum of four guests at a time. All guests must be under 20 pounds and up to date on vaccinations. Every stay begins with a completed intake form, which tells me what I need to know to make your dog's stay a success.
Overnight boarding is $150 per night, per dog
The Stillwater Sequence is a touch-based calming protocol developed over 20 years of professional training. Each session works with your dog's nervous system to reduce anxiety and build a sense of safety. Particularly well-suited to dogs who are sensitive, reactive, or new to boarding. Ask about it on your intake form.
A Home, Not a Facility
Your dog will sleep in their own cozy crate at night and may be crated briefly if I step out. Dogs should be comfortable with a crate, or at least open to learning. It’s not a kennel. It’s a quiet corner of our home that quickly starts to feel familiar.
During the day, guests are part of a small, active household, playing, exploring, resting, and doing what dogs do best when they have the space to do it.
A Note on the Cats
My cats live here, and their safety is always a priority.
That said, “not good with cats” can mean many different things. In my experience, many dogs with that description do perfectly well in this environment.
Dogs with a history of serious predatory behavior toward cats, including any incident involving injury or attack, cannot be accommodated.
Many dogs fall somewhere in the middle. If you’re unsure, please just describe the behavior honestly and we can talk through it together. Context matters far more than a brief description alone. If there’s genuine uncertainty, we can arrange a short trial stay before booking a longer visit.
